I Think It's About Time...

I've always intended at some point to write about my conversion experience in more detail, but it always seemed like such an overwhelming task, and so I kept putting it off. However, on this fifth anniversary of my conversion, I suddenly feel the urge to tackle it! I'm going to start wading through old emails and writings to try and bring what happened to the front of my mind. So, wish me luck! I might post some thoughts here along the way.

Good for you for having the courage to take on this mamoth task! I have given my story in the form of a public address on a fair number of occasions and am currently in the process of writing it up based on old e-mails etc, so I empathise. :)

If I can offer some advice it would be to allow yourself some space for spiritual and mental rest during and after dealing with old records and feelings. I almost never sleep the night after telling my story, and I've recognised some internal disquiet at revisiting old e-mails and letters.

Take time out to breath deeply and focus on little details of your current life, particularly the more wonderful fruits of being Catholic, and take it at the pace you feel comfortable with (I tend to drive myself too fast.)

God bless your efforts and I look forward to reading :)

Good luck! :-) Looking forward to reading it!

...our DRE asked us to write our conversion stories back at the beginning of Lent. I was not up to the task...maybe you'll inspire me. :-)

I can't wait to read it! I love conversion stories. I too have been anxious to summarize mine but it's just so daunting. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Thanks everyone!

And that is definitely good advice, Peter...I was once talking to a Catholic couple about my conversion, and out of nowhere burst into tears, I completely surprised myself because I thought I was "over it" you know?

My husband also said to me, "Take your time, there's no rush!" I obviously need the reminder ;-)
