My husband was kind enough to give my family a little bagpipe concert on Christmas day, so I thought I'd share a taste of his piping here on my blog as well.

The bagpipe is a beautiful instrument. My only experience with it live was at a retreat where a bagpiper showed up at a Saturday prayer service to play with the rest of us who had been on retreat. I can recall the details only vaguely, but what I remember most was the need to transpose all of the music into G-minor because the bagpipes can play barely an octave or so centered around middle E-flat. That took some doing for me on the piano since I'm barely an intermediate player myself. Those music pages must have been scrawled with transposition mark-ups to match the bagpipe. But boy was it worth it! Such a beautiful instrument.
Your husband plays quite well.
Hi there! I happened upon your blog today. First of all, I love the bagpipes! And secondly, I'm also a Catholic convert and wanted to know if I could put a link to your blog on my website (www.thecatholicwife.com)? I'm trying to expand who I link to and who links to me and your blog would definitely be a great addition!
Thanks!

I'd be honored, Rachel, go right ahead! :-) Thanks for stopping by!
I commented on this enough on Facebook.......
